If you want to keep your device's jailbreaking potential then you should also know to avoid updating as the Evasi0n7 untethered jailbreak tool has been patched. In this post we want to bring you up to date with everything we know about the potential for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7.1/7.1.1. Even though Apple pushed out several iOS 7.0.x releases without patching Evasion, they did patch it in the final iOS 7.1 release. Whether the Evad3rs team have any exploits up their sleeves, or plans to get to work on an iOS 7.1 jailbreak remains to be seen. This software is now halfway through its life-cycle and we may see that a jailbreak doesn't come until iOS 8 is released later this year. This cat-and-mouse battle is constantly ongoing and we have to wait and see what will transpire. Evad3rs includes some seasoned jailbreakers like Pod2g and MuscleNerd and we have seen Cydia thriving with some really great tweaks and apps being added over the past couple of months and this is sure to continue whether iOS 7.1 is jailbroken or not. Over the past while we have seen Winocm post a video on YouTube demonstrating iOS 7.1 untethered boot, which adds more fuel to the fact that the untethered iOS 7.1 jailbreak is on its way but we don't have any time frame for this as yet. There also hasn't been any word from the Evad3rs team either. On another front we saw iH8sn0w claim on Twitter that his iPhone 4s is currently jailbroken on iOS 7.1 but details on this are scarce and we don't know if the actual jailbreak will be made available to the public. The message to take from this post is not to update to iOS 7.1 or 7.1.1 if you want to be able to jailbreak at a future date. If you are on iOS 7.0.6 or lower you are advised to stay where you are so that you can apply a jailbreak when one is released. A minor release of iOS 7.0.6 has been released and we are happy to report that this latest firmware release hasn't been patched and your Evasi0n jailbreak will still work. Jailbreak developer Winocm has confirmed on Twitter that no jailbreak patch exists in this new firmware release and therefore an update to the Evasi0n jailbreak tool by Evad3rs with 7.0.6 support will be released. If you are a jailbreak enthusiast and you want to jailbreak iOS 7.0.6 right away on your iPhone or iPad without waiting, you can do this right now by following the steps listed below. Before you jump ahead, it is worth pointing out that this process does involve modifying the existing version of of Evasi0n7, which currently sits at v1.0.5, with a Hex editing software to make it compatible with iOS 7.0.6. The process is fairly easy and it works on both Windows and Mac. All iOS devices are also supported with this jailbreak for iOS 7.0.6. The first thing you need to do is download iOS 7.0.6 for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The next thing is to download Evasi0n7 v1.0.5 for Windows or Mac. If you are using a Mac you will also need to download the app called HexEdit. If you are using Windows you can download Hex Editor Neo. Both apps are free. Once you have all this completed, you need to start the Hex Editing program, select the Evasi0n7 file and then open Evasi0n 7 > Contents > MacOS > Evasi0n7. Hit CMD+F on your Mac's keyboard to bring up the �find� dialog window. On Windows you can press CTRL+F to get this. The next step is important. You need to search for �11B511� and then replace it with �11B651�. 11B651 is the build number which iOS 7.0.6 carries. You need to keep in mind the the search is case sensitive so make sure you use the capital letters as are detailed here. When complete, go to the �File� menu on top and click save. You can close the Hex editor window now. That's it, Evasi0n7 will now identify the just released iOS 7.0.6 firmware file. You can now use the usual steps to jailbreak your device using Evasion7. Once you are done, you should have Cydia up and running on your iOS 7.0.6 device. You can of course wait for the latest version of Evasi0n7 which we expect will be released tomorrow.

More updated were to follow and Evasi0n 1.0.4 is now out with important security patches related to untether, as well as fixing the reboot loop issue that was affecting the Retina iPad mini. Apple have also released iOS 7.1 beta 3 and we are delighted to be able to report that the exploits used in Evasi0n7 still work on the latest beta of iOS 7.1. An unofficial version of Evasi0n7 is now available that allows users to jailbreak iOS 7.1 beta 3 untethered on all devices. This brings us to version 1.0.4 which includes an important security fix related to the untether which was first reported by Winocm, as well as a proper fix for boot loop issues on the Retina iPad mini. The official changelog for version 1.0.4 states that Evasi0n7 was updated to 1.0.4 with important untether security fixes and no more iPad mini Retina JB issues. Existing jailbreak users will receive the Evasion7 1.0.4 untether security update through Cydia. This means tha tif you have already jailbroken on iOS 7.x all you have to do is update via Cydia. You don't have to restore/re-jailbreak using the Windows of Mac OS X tool. Earlier today, Saurik released a minor update to Cydia Substrate, and a major update to WinterBoard with full compatibility for iOS 7 and ARM64 devices like the iPhone 5s, iPad Air and Retina iPad mini. The updated version of Evasi0n7 is now live on Cydia and all you have to do is hit the Changes tab in Cydia and tap on Upgrade to get the latest version. It is supported on all iPhone and iPod touch devices. These supported devices include the latest iPhone 5s and 5c, iPad Air, Retina iPad mini and iPod touch 5. This is not the full list, the full list was including in our post on Monday 23rd December. The Evasi0n 7 jailbreak supports iOS 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2, 7.0.3, 7.0.4. In order to jailbreak you will need the latest version of iTunes installed on your Windows PC or Mac. You can download iTunes 11.1.3 from the iTunes store. It is also highly recommended that you Restore to the latest iOS 7.0.4 on your device through iTunes (NOT OTA) before running Evasi0n 7. You also need to make sure that there is no lock screen passcode or Touch ID set on your iOS device and you should backup all your data before jailbreaking. At the bottom of this post we have a video tutorial for jailbreaking iOS 7 using Evasi0n 7 but before we get to that, here is the written instructions on how to do the same. The first thing you have to do is download iOS 7 � 7.0.4 jailbreak Evasion 7 for Windows or Mac. Next you need to connect your iOS device to your computer and start Evasi0n 7. Next click on �Jailbreak� button to start the process. Evasi0n will now perform the jailbreak in a series of automated steps and all you have to do is sit back and wait. It may take a couple of minutes to complete. Once done, Evasi0n will inform you that you need to unlock your device and tap the new Evasion 7 app icon which can be found on the home screen. Tap the app icon and keep your device connected, it will automatically restart. Once the reboot is complete, Evasi0n will continue to apply final touches before asking you to unlock your device again. Once you unlock it, it will reboot again, followed by a �Done� screen. Cydia should now be on your device's home screen. Quit the Evasion 7 app, disconnect your device from your computer and start Cydia. That's it your iOS 7 device is now jailbroken.
